Believing nature is sacred, I blend childhood memories of serene summer nights when gardens become enchanted worlds with meditations upon the cycle of life. I layer dark over vivid colors to create vibrant botanicals with high contrast and hidden layers, creating an intimate experience for the viewer. My paintings are illustrative in style and are influenced by Renaissance masters and Byzantine iconography. I work in a variety of mediums, including gouache and egg tempera, to build paintings that invite viewers through golden portals—the entrance where the divine becomes possible.

Elizabeth Hautau is a multidisciplinary artist rooted in Avondale Estates, Georgia. With a foundation in graphic arts, she moves between gouache, egg tempera, oil, and collage. Her work reminds us to explore the world with innocence and expand the magic of curiosity.

Born on a flower farm in the foothills of Appalachia, Elizabeth received a BFA from Moore College of Art in Philadelphia and has shown her work in galleries nationwide, including Cat Eye Creative in Decatur and Kai Lin Gallery. As a former member of The Goat Farm, she has participated in the White Space Angel group shows. Elizabeth has received recognition for design work from CASE and The Phoenix Awards, and she has been featured in design publications.
